It is safe to say that things are not going Chelsea's way at the moment. They simply can't seem to find any kind of form. And while fingers are being pointed towards the players, the management and the board, one also cannot overlook the number of injuries the Blues are dealing with right now. Any team would struggle under these circumstances.
Chelsea's best player, Cole Palmer, has barely featured this season and is not expected back this month either. On the other hand, their standout centre-back, Levi Colwill, might not even play in this campaign after an ACL injury and we have already seen how badly this team has missed his presence at the back.
The midfield has been one of their stronger points. That is largely due to the sheer brilliance of Moises Caicedo and the increased output of Enzo Fernandez. That being said, there are problems there as well.
Romeo Lavia is a brilliant footballer. But he just can't stay fit. Despite his load being managed, it has been confirmed that he has picked up another injury. He was withdrawn in the opening minutes of the recent game against Qarabag. As reported by Chelsea's official website, Enzo Maresca said:
"We don’t have an update at the moment.
'We need to wait still some hours to do all the checks he needs. For sure, he has an injury.
'It’s a shame because we are trying to minimise minutes for him, even with that, he is injured again. But we need to persist until we find the right solution for him."

If history is anything to go by, expect Lavia to spend another spell on the sidelines. And now, it is time to start wondering if the club need to give up on the Belgian midfielder.
There is zero doubt about his talent. But availability is the best quality in sports. Unfortunately, Lavia struggles to remain fit for any consistent length of time before suffering some kind of injury.
It is a shame because he is such a phenomenal talent. But sometimes, it just does not work out. This might be one of those occasions. There have been some rumours about Manchester United putting in an offer for him in January. If they do that, the Blues definitely need to consider it. That is just the unfortunate reality of this situation.
