It has been far too long but Chelsea are back in a big time European clash as they are set to take on FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Conference League. While the competition is not the same level as the Champions or Europa League, it is still an important match in Europe that can’t be overlooked.
As we have covered here at The Pride of London, this is the third meeting between the two sides with the last clash taking place in the Champions League in 2011. Both clubs had different hopes back then as they strove for the trophy with the big ears but Chelsea fans should hope for the same result as the Blues advanced 2-0 on aggregate.
Copenhagen come into this match after a tough road that started with 2 playoff rounds just to get to the UECL league stage. They barely qualified for the next round and had to beat FC Heidenheim in a round fo 32 playoff to get to this point. They currently sit top of the SuperLiga in Denmark and are ready to try and claim a famous win against the Blues.
Chelsea are riding a little higher after a big win against Southampton in the Premier League and should be well rested after not playing since February 25. They are highly favored in this matchup and even with several key players missing they should be able to handle this tough Copenhagen side.
Match Details:

Team News - Chelsea
Several key players are still missing for Chelsea with the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke still on the mend from their injuries. UECL top scorer Marc Guiu is still out as well but Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile should be available for selection.
We expect Cole Palmer to make his UECL debut after not being in the league stage squad and he will want to shine in his first European night for Chelsea. He should be joined up top with Christopher Nkunku who has enjoyed great success in this competition so far
Team News - Copenhagen
Copenhagen come into this matchup in fine form as they are undefeated in 4 of their last 5 matches in all competitions. As mentioned earlier they are top of the Danish SuperLiga and have plenty of firepower in attack.
Danger men Mohamed Elyounoussi leads the team with 9 goals and 6 assists in all competitions and striker Amin Chiakha is the team’s leading goalscorer in the UECL with 4 goals in 7 matches.
Copenhagen will likely be without three attacking players in Andreas Cornelius, Roony Bardghji, and winger Jordan Larsson who all would pose a threat to the Blues. Elyounoussi is a familiar face for Blues fans as the forward faced Chelsea 4 times in his career while at Southampton in 2018-19 and 2021-23.
Match Prediction
Copenhagen is a good side that is currently the best in Denmark but they have struggled in the Conference League and have conceded 9 goals in 6 games to lesser competition than the Blues. Chelsea are not exactly flying high in recent months but this should be a straightforward victory for the Blues despite the tough atmosphere and pressure of a midweek European clash.
Copenhagen 0 - 2 Chelsea
