The Chelsea Women face off against Manchester City Women in the 2025 Women’s League Cup Final this Saturday in one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the season. This match also kicks off an insane period for both clubs where they are playing each other 4 matches in a row in the EFL Cup Final, once in the WSL, and twice in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Chelsea are in the midst of an unbeaten streak leading all the way back to May 1, 2024 where they lost to Liverpool in the WSL. Since then, they have taken on all comers and have not lost a match in 30 competitive fixtures and only drew twice during that span. They have the strongest side in England and are ready to capture their first trophy of the season.
As for Manchester City, they currently sit fourth in the WSL table and are having a tough go of things in the league with 4 losses in 16 matches. They are doing well in other competitions as they are in the Champions League quarterfinals and FA Cup semi-finals along with the League Cup Final.
City did however sack their manager Gareth Taylor this week because of the struggles in the league so this could go one of two ways. Either they get the new manager bounce with interim manager Nick Cushing or they look out of sorts as they adjust to the new manager in place. We are anxious to see the results and hope of course for the latter.
Team News:
Chelsea will be without their two big winter signings Keira Walsh and Naomi Girma because of injury. Guro Reiten will also be unavailable for the match through injury.
City will be without Lauren Hemp, Alex Greenwood, Aoba Fujino, and Rebecca Knaak all missing through injury.

Match Prediction:
This has been a tight fixture in recent history as Chelsea and Manchester City are among the top sides in women’s football and in the WSL. Chelsea have won the last 2 matches including the 2024 League Cup Final but City secured a win and draw in the 2 matches before that.
City will be geared up to try and shutdown Chelsea's hopes for a quadruple and the intensity should be through the roof. This is a true test for the Chelsea Women but we expect them to come out on top and win their first trophy of 2025.
