Chelsea have produced a lot of talent over the years. Some have found their place among the Blues themselves, while others have moved on to look for better opportunities elsewhere. Most of them have failed. But then, there are those who have shone away from Stamford Bridge.
Players like Declan Rice, Marc Guehi, and Jamal Musiala among others are some of the well-known names who fall under that category. They have established themselves as some of the best in the world in their respective positions.
Nevertheless, there are other players as well who have found success at other clubs. Former Manchester City player Micah Richards has recently spoken highly about one of them.
The player in question is Lewis Hall. The Chelsea Chronicle reported that Richards recently spoke on The Rest Is Football, where he stated:
"I really like Hall at Newcastle. I really like him. I think he started in midfield as well when they got him from, it was Chelsea, wasn’t it?
“Yeah, if I remember correctly and I remember I was doing one of the games and after the game he said he’s normally a midfielder but to go out at left back, but he’s so intelligent you know and when he goes forward he goes forward with conviction and has quality at the end of it as well. So I really like him."
Micah Richards heaps praise on former Chelsea youngster
Hall left Chelsea to join Newcastle United in 2023, initially on loan, which was made permanent in the following year. The English youngster started as a midfielder but currently plays primarily as a left-back for the Magpies. He has made 14 appearances this season in all competitions and provided one assist.
Although Hall isn’t currently at the top of the pecking order at Newcastle, the 21-year-old is certainly on the right path and has the potential to develop into a key player in the future, by the looks of it.
So, Chelsea fans might be left wondering if the Blues made a mistake letting go of the player too soon, especially given his ability to operate in multiple positions and the Blues’ recent issues with injuries. Well, that’s debatable and a topic for another day.
As of now, Hall is a Newcastle player and there have been no indications of any interest from Chelsea in bringing him back to Stamford Bridge. After all, the Blues do have one of the best left-backs in the world in Marc Cucurella and have recently also added Jorrel Hato to their squad. Moreover, there are other areas that will need some strengthening first.
