'Absolutely outstanding' - Jody Morris thinks it's obvious who Chelsea should sign

Chelsea are heading for an important summer transfer window. The Blues are expected to make several key signings but know they must get it right.

The Blues have endured a different campaign. Not only did they allow Liam Rosenior to succeed Enzo Maresca at the mid-way point, but a series of poor performances since have seen their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League disappear.

There is still a chance, albeit a slim one, the club can lift silverware, though. An FA Cup final against Manchester City — a team they haven't beaten in the last five years — is fast approaching.

But after that all focus will be on which additions BlueCo will add during the summer transfer window. Defence will be the priority, but, after failing to convert so many chances, so should the attack.

And former midfielder and assistant manager Jody Morris believes there is an obvious pick to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Jody Morris wants Chelsea to sign Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva recently announced he will be leaving Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of the season.

His most recent display — a Man of the Match performance — against Arsenal in a top-of-the-table clash proved, despite turning 32 later this year, he still has what it takes to be a game-changer.

And Morris, who spoke to FindSisterSites, as quoted by the Metro, thinks Chelsea should capitalise on the midfielder's impending free agency.

"I think there are certain players at the football club that I don’t think it would matter who you bring in, I’m not sure that they’re going to improve too much. I think those are the ones that maybe you need to move on.

But certainly bringing in people like Bernardo Silva would be good, his performance the other day was absolutely outstanding.

That’s all we’ve seen for nine years at Manchester City: Someone who is not big in stature, you wouldn’t necessarily say he’s physically unbelievable apart from the distance he covers, but he plays with pure intelligence, is brave as you like, is a great character and he’s always available and turns up in big games.

So would I look at Bernardo Silva? Absolutely."

During his nine years at the club, the Portugal international, who Pep Guardiola signed from Monaco, has lifted six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, two FA Cups and the 2022-23 Champions League.
