Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez might just get his Real Madrid wish this summer. The Argentine made it clear from day one of the summer that he would prefer to leave Stamford Bridge should a top club come ahead of next season.

That bombshell will have frustrated Xabi Alonso, who will surely have seen Fernandez as an important starter in his new Chelsea side. But such high-profile players usually get what they want when demanding out, and Chelsea are hardly in a good position to convince him after a season that saw them miss out on European football next season.

There have already been reports of Fernandez agreeing terms with Real Madrid, but we don't yet know if Los Blancos will commit to the stunning £130million asking price.

Mourinho's stance on Enzo transfer

What is being reported is that new Real Madrid boss and Chelsea legend José Mourinho is said to be keen on the Fernandez transfer as he builds his new squad.

“Enzo Fernandez wants to leave. He wants to join Real Madrid,” Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport.

“He has made no secret of that. He would like to be with Marc Cucurella in leaving Chelsea, but Chelsea‘s valuation has to be met. What I can tell you is that talks are already ‘underway’ between the clubs

“It’s also true that [new manager] Jose Mourinho has put forward Enzo Fernandez. So things are developing between Real Madrid and the camp of Enzo Fernandez… he’s only got one dream club in mind.”

Real Madrid prepared to make a statement

While we don't know if Real Madrid will pay the £130million requested, we do know they are desperate to end Barcelona's reign of dominance, with Hansi Flick leading the Blaugrana to the last two league titles.

That has led to Mourinho, who briefly disrupted Pep Guardiola's Barcelona and their dominant era, returning to the club. We have also seen president Florentino Perez embarrass himself by putting in a hopeless Julian Alvarez bid and making its rejection public to back up his promise of signing a 'Galactico' during the election cycle.

Perez and Real Madrid are desperate for a transfer window win, and the deals involving Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella have helped. But Perez wants a big signing, and as things stand, Fernandez looks the most likely to be that big signing. On the plus side, Chelsea are expected to hold firm by their valuation.
