It might be time to rethink the transfer strategy if you are Chelsea. After spending over a billion pounds, the Blues are not even close to challenging for the Premier League title. The Club World Cup triumph might have raised hopes amongst the fans but cold water has been poured on those quickly this season.
In fact, it looks like the Club World Cup win might have only served as plaster over the cracks. This Chelsea roster is full of players who are nowhere near good enough to be competing for the biggest titles in world football. Yes, on paper, it might make sense to sign wonderkids. But often, they do not meet their potential. And it is important to find the right combination of youth and experience to build a winning squad.
So, it might be worth parting ways with some players and starting to bring in some proven winners to Stamford Bridge. Interestingly, some of their current crop of talent does seem to be drawing interest from big name teams.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Il Bianco Nero), Juventus continue to closely monitor the right-back market ahead of the January 2026 transfer window. The Bianconeri management has identified Malo Gusto as an interesting new prospect.
Juventus could make January move for Chelsea player
Gusto was phenomenal for Chelsea in his debut season under the management of Mauricio Pochettino. But he has never matched those standards since the arrival of Enzo Maresca as manager.
If Chelsea are planning to stick with Maresca, then perhaps it would be the right idea to part with Gusto if the right offer arrives. A bid around or north of £50 million might just be too good to turn down.
Would Juventus be willing to make an offer of that magnitude for a right-back though? Probably not. So, let's see how things play out from here.
