Yesterday was full of drama when it came to Chelsea’s transfer window. At first, reports suggested that Bayern Munich had agreed to sign Nicolas Jackson on a season-long loan for a €15m fee, with an option to make the deal permanent for €80m next summer. He even travelled to Munich to complete the move, but the Hoops halted it after Liam Delap's unfortunate injury against Fulham, which could keep him out for a while.
The Englishman suffered a hamstring injury during yesterday's 2-0 victory over Fulham at Stamford Bridge and was replaced by Tyrique George in the 14th minute. Later, Enzo Maresca stated that the forward will be sidelined for six to eight weeks. But new reports have emerged suggesting it could be longer and the issue might be worse than initially thought.
Due to this, the Blues told Jackson to return to London, but he is clearly unhappy with the club's U-turn. It is believed that the Senegalese international remained in Munich yesterday, trying to find a solution to get the move over the line.
However, as reported by TBR Football, Jackson has now returned to London. The striker and Bayern Munich still hope to secure another deal within the next 48 hours, and they are exploring options.
Latest update on Nicolas Jackson's potential Chelsea exit
After Christopher Nkunku's £36m move to AC Milan has already been confirmed, Maresca is now left with Joao Pedro as his only fit senior striker option. So, it is sensible for them to bring back Jackson as the deal had not been completed yet.
Speaking of alternatives, the Blues have been actively pursuing Fermin Lopez and have reportedly submitted a €40m bid as well, but Barcelona are reluctant to part ways. While today some reports also suggested that the Blues have enquired about Conrad Harder of Sporting CP and others. But with hardly 36 hours left of the window, a potential deal does seems highly unlikely.
However, the way Chelsea have conducted their transfer business in the past few days, anything is possible. Now it remains to be seen whether the Blues can complete a last-minute deal for any of these players, or will they stick with Jackson until the winter transfer window? Only time will tell.
