This upcoming January transfer window has taken on greater importance for Chelsea over the last few weeks. The Blues have completely lost their form after it had looked like they were on the upward trajectory after wins over Barcelona and Liverpool, and a draw against Arsenal despite going down to ten men.
That has been followed by one poor result after another. And at this point in time, it does not feel like this team is capable of qualifying for the Champions League.
One can only hope that the club takes the problems seriously and actually strengthens the squad in January with ready-made quality signings instead of bringing in a bunch of more youngsters, most of whom will never do anything significant in a Chelsea shirt. Then again, from what we have seen over the last few years, those hopes might be misplaced.
On the other hand, there are quite a few players who could be headed for the exit door in January. One of them is drawing the interest of Chelsea's rivals, Leeds United.
Leeds United planning move for Chelsea player in January
As reported by Football Insider, Leeds United are plotting a January move for Axel Disasi. The Peacocks have an interest in taking him on loan for the second half of the season.
Disasi can't go out on loan to a team outside the United Kingdom because Chelsea have filled their international loan quota. There is nothing stopping Leeds United from signing him on a temporary basis though.
And it is very possible that Chelsea might have little other choice but to send him out on loan to another English club this winter. The French international has not made a single appearance this season, and it is hard to imagine that too many clubs would be willing to sign him on a permanent basis, for a reasonable transfer fee, in the middle of the season under these circumstances.
