Cole Palmer took some time to applaud his manager Enzo Maresca after winning the Club World Cup in New York last night.

Cole Palmer is the man of the moment right now. Not many players are spoken about to the same degree as the ice-cold Chelsea man, especially after his dominant display outclassed the champions of Europe in the Club World Cup final.

That's right, Chelsea beat PSG in the Club World Cup final. Heading into the final, Chelsea were the clear underdogs, but they played like top dogs instead. A scoreline of 3-0 suggests exactly what happened: Chelsea dominated, thanks to one man in particular.

Cole Palmer applauds Enzo Maresca for "building something special"

While Cole Palmer was the man of the match by some distance, he remained modest and passed the praise onto a different man, perhaps the unsung hero, Enzo Maresca. Confirming what every Chelsea fan already knew, Palmer said that Maresca ws building something special.

In his own words, Cole Palmer said: “People doubted us, they didn’t believe in us... But let me tell you, Enzo Maresca is building something special at this football club”.

There's no denying that Enzo Maresca is the right man for Chelsea. Eyebrows were raised when he was first appointed but look at Chelsea now.

Conference League champions, Club World Cup champions, back in the Champions League and signing some brilliant players this summer. The Chelsea that fans missed is back... And it's mostly thanks to Enzo Maresca.

Enzo Maresca brings the best out of Cole Palmer

Maresca certainly brings the best out of Cole Palmer. The English forward is allowed to play with freedom under Maresca's system, which leaves Palmer with plenty of work to do.

However, this works to complement Palmer's skill set. Palmer is the type of player who can do a bit of everything, and it's hard to pinpoint his greatest trait. Therefore, why not let him run riot and benefit every player on the pitch?

Palmer loves finals. He's given the nickname Cold Palmer for a reason, because he remains ice cold in situations that would pressurise others. Last night was yet another fine example of that and as far as Chelsea fans are concerned, long may that trend continue.
