The season is unravelling for Chelsea at a rapid rate. After sacking Enzo Maresca, they have picked up one point from the two games that have followed. The Champions League qualification spots are now starting to feel out of reach. And unless Liam Rosenior is able to turn things around completely, this will go down as another disaster of a campaign for the Blues.
That has mostly been the case since the Clearlake-Boehly takeover of the club. Now, fan anger is growing against the ownership. Hopefully, they change their stubborn ways and change the club's poorly thought-out transfer policies. Otherwise, things will never change.
Rosenior has a tough task on his hands, that is for sure. And considering his lack of top-level experience, one has to wonder whether he is even cut out for the job, or just another BlueCo flop waiting to be sacked sometime down the line.
If there is any chance for Rosenior's appointment to work in the long run, the Blues need to bring in reinforcements. It looks like the manager has identified an area of weakness in this squad already.
Liam Rosenior asks Chelsea to sign €30m Bayern Munich player
As reported by Fichajes, Rosenior considers strengthening the defence a priority and believes that the current context is ideal to bring in Kim Min-Jae. The defender is not getting regular playing time at Bayern Munich, and his transfer price, close to €30 million, is considered reasonable.
Min-Jae was the Serie A defender of the year in 2023. But since joining Bayern Munich, things have not fallen into place for the South Korean centre-back. While he gets starts for the Bavarians, he is not a nailed-on starter by any means. So, at 29 years of age, a change of scenery could be helpful.
Would Min-Jae be the right signing for Chelsea? We do not know. It would be a good sign in the grand scheme of things though, as it would show that the ownership is starting to adapt their methods. But if you ask us, do not count on that happening.
