Judging by Liam Rosenior's latest comments, it seems Enzo Fernandez could be one of the biggest Chelsea beneficiaries following the club's decision to axe Enzo Maresca.

The Argentina international has endured an up-and-down time at Stamford Bridge since joining from Benfica for a then-record £107 million fee.

Undoubtedly a hugely talented player, fans are always eager to see a coach get the very best out of the 25-year-old. Following an impressive start to life under Rosenior, there has never been a greater expectation.

So far this season, Enzo Fernandez has made 21 appearances in the Premier League, with just one of those coming from the bench.

Under Liam Rosenior, the midfielder has made two starts and one substitute appearance. In those three appearances, he scored once and provided two assists.

Liam Rosenior impressed with Enzo Fernandez's training levels

Despite Fernandez only turning 25 earlier this month, he is easily one of the Blues' most experienced players. Not only has he already made over 260 senior professional appearances, but he also lifted the 2022 World Cup.

And speaking to Chelsea's official website about how the South American conducts himself, Rosenior paid tribute to the intensity his number eight puts in at the Cobham Training Centre.

"So impressed. I knew what an outstanding player [Enzo Fernandez] was and I was actually at the World Cup final when he played.

But it's not until you see a player up close and you get to know him and what he's about, and I have to say he's a winner. The reason he always plays is that he trains 100 per cent.

I've enjoyed working with him and it's his birthday [Jan 17th], so I told him to go to a steak house and enjoy some Argentinean steak. He is a magnificent player. More importantly, he's a fantastic character and I love having him in this team."

Set to play a major role under Rosenior, Fernandez, who is under contract in London until 2032, will be chomping at the bit to prove any critics he has had wrong.

Chelsea's next two fixtures will see them host Pafos FC in the Champions League before the side travels across London to take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

After Fernandez put in an impressive display during the Blues' 2-0 win over Brentford last weekend, the 25-year-old, injury permitting, will be one of the first names on Rosenior's team sheets for both games.
