At the midway point of the season, it is safe to say that Chelsea find themselves in a world of trouble. This week, they suffered another defeat, this time to rivals Fulham. It was another game in which the Blues were shown a red card, a habit that hasn't changed despite the departure of Enzo Maresca. Liam Rosenior will have his work cut out for him, that is for sure.

Rosenior might not have taken charge in this game but he was there watching from the stands alongside Behdad Egbahli. The Englishman comes at a time when the Chlesea fanbase is starting to fully turn on the ownership and sporting directors.

That could result in two things. Firstly, the ownership digs its heels in and stubbornly continues with this model. Secondly, they take the feedback on board, recognise the failure that the past four years have been and make the necessary adjustments.

They will definitely need to make multiple signings this January to back Rosenior. The current squad lacks quality and is far too injury-prone to be trusted to turn things around, even if you overlook the discipline issues.

What are the type of signings will Rosenior want to see Chelsea make? Well, it looks like he has his eyes set on a familiar face from his time at Strasbourg.

As reported by DSports, Rosenior will target Valentin Barco as a possible reinforcement. He wants one of his key players at Strasbourg as his first signing for Chelsea.

Barco is a full Argentine international. The 21-year-old was a regular starter for Rosenior at Strasbourg.

Barco made his name as a left-back while breaking into senior football at Boca Juniors. But at Strasbourg, he played mostly in the middle of the park. If Chelsea do sign him, it is probably there that Rosenior will deploy him.
