Malo Gusto has told Liam Rosenior what every Chelsea fan is thinking

After suffering a 5-2 defeat away against PSG in the Champions League Last 16 on Wednesday night, Chelsea have it all to do in the reverse leg next week.

Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez did manage to level the game at 2-2 but PSG were too strong and went on to claim a convincing victory.

Goals from Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha and a brace from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have made Chelsea's progression an almost-impossible task.

But Gusto, who netted Chelsea's first of the night, feels next weeks' second-leg could, and probably should, look a lot different had the team been smarter with their approach.

Malo Gusto questions Chelsea's tactics against PSG

Having done the hard work to draw level early in the second half, instead of protecting what they had, Chelsea continued their overly offensive approach.

That gung-ho approach, obviously inspired by Liam Rosenior, ended up costing Chelsea at the other end of the pitch with PSG scoring a trio of goals in the last 15 minutes.

And Gusto, who spoke to TNT Sports after the game, admitted the side's tactics were a big mistake.

"The last two goals were mistakes. We should just sit back and wait for them because we know there is a second leg coming up."

Kvaratskhelia's two brace sealed the tie, and now, instead of heading back to London trailing by just the one goal, Rosenior must attempt to overturn a three goal deficit.

Liam Rosenior must learn from PSG experience

Everybody knows Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca at the start of the year, is not the most experienced, especially at this level, and unfortunately, that naivety was on full display at the Parc des Princes.

Grace will be given to the 41-year-old on this occasion, but fans will certainly want to see a more realistic approach taken in the future.

Needlessly throwing matches away because you refuse to adapt, especially in Champions League knockout ties, can only happen so many times before big, big questions are asked.

While every fan loves to see explosive and forward-thinking football, there is a time and a place, and all square with just over half an hour to play away to the European holders probably wasn't it.

Chelsea should've attempted to hold onto what they had before going again next week. Instead, Rosenior stuck to his principles and it backfired, leaving the Blues on the brink of European elimination.
