Manchester City are coming off a rare poor season since the appointment of Pep Guardiola. Their underwhelming Club World Cup campaign was another blow for the Citizens and many are wondering whether it is the beginning of the end for their era of dominance. Of course, the Premier League giants will be keen to avoid that and it looks like they have a Chelsea superstar on their radar with that goal in mind.

If there is one thing that we learned at the Club World Cup, it is that Cole Palmer belongs amongst the best in the world. He scored two goals and provided an assist in a 3-0 win for Chelsea against PSG in the final.

Luis Enrique's side are considered the best in the world by most. But up against Palmer, they simply did not have the answers.

Naturally, that performance caught the eye of pretty much everybody. As reported by Fichajes, Guardiola wants Palmer to wear the Manchester City shirt again and is willing to offer up to €170 million to achieve it.

Of course, one has to wonder whether the report is accurate or not. There is very little chance that Chelsea would want to part ways with Palmer for any transfer fee, and even less when it comes to a direct Premier League rival like Manchester City.

Also, Palmer has managed to establish himself as one of the faces of the Premier League at Chelsea. It is rarely about individual quality in a Guardiola team though. So, Stamford Bridge might be the right place for him.

So, at the end of the day, whether the report is accurate or not, do not expect to see Palmer back wearing sky blue anytime soon. Let's just hope we see him lift a lot more trophies in the royal blue over the coming years.
