With less than a month remaining before the winter transfer window, the rumour mill is in full swing. Several players have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge recently, while a few players have been linked with exits as well. Chelsea have been highly inconsistent this season, showcasing some brilliant moments and equally disappointing ones over the last few months.
However, this doesn't rule out the fact that Chelsea have an incredibly skilled and diverse squad which includes both highly experienced players and high-potential youngsters. And it appears that one of their Premier League rivals has taken notice of one of the Blues' starlets, who has been shining in his debut season.
The player in question is none other than Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian, who was wanted by almost every top European club before Chelsea reached an agreement with Palmeiras last year. He arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer, following the club's Club World Cup triumph, and since then, he has established himself as a key member of Enzo Maresca's first-team squad.
Estevao has scored 5 goals and provided an assist in 20 appearances so far. The 18-year-old swiftly gained popularity among the fans after scoring a last-minute winner against Liverpool in October. He also scored a stunning goal in Chelsea's 3-0 Champions League win over Barcelona last month. And he is already being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City reportedly prepared to make €120m offer for Chelsea ace
According to Fichajes, Manchester City have the intention to present a historic offer for Estevao. They are reportedly prepared to make a €120 million offer.
That's a huge amount for an 18-year-old, but his performance so far this season justifies the hype. Chelsea's stance must be clear. They invested in him early on, are aware of his potential, and have no intention of letting him go. Furthermore, he has a contract that runs until 2033, and Manchester City may have to pay an outrageous amount of money to convince the Blues.
Despite Manchester City's interest in Estevao, if the reports are accurate, a move remains highly unlikely. Chelsea view Estevao as a vital component of their strategy as they strive to secure Premier League and Champions League titles in the future. At the same time, the Blues will not want to improve a direct competitor like Manchester City. So, do not expect to see this move happen.
