Chelsea have already signed one player from Manchester United recently, bringing in Alejandro Garnacho. He showed flashes of quality coming off the bench against Brentford and Bayern Munich, but curiously, Enzo Maresca did not play him against Man Utd, when the Argentine would have been extra-motivated to make a difference after how his time at Old Trafford ended.

While the dust has barely settled on that deal, it looks like Chelsea are being linked with another Manchester United. And just like Garnacho, he seems to have been unsettled since the arrival of Ruben Amorim as manager.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are ‘more realistic’ options than Real Madrid for Kobbie Mainoo. The Englishman wanted to leave Man Utd on loan in the summer.

Any exit was blocked, even though he is not a regular starter for Man Utd under Amorim. But the manager's own future at the club is in serious doubt, although the recent win against Chelsea will give him some breathing room.

Mainoo is a talented player for sure. That being said, one has to question Chelsea's strategy of signing players from clubs who are struggling badly, like Manchester United.

What Chelsea need right now is some winners, having overloaded the squad with youngsters over the years. But the club seem insistent on overlooking experience and that is one of the reasons why they have not been able to take any steps forward.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea do end up making a move for Mainoo in the future. It would come as no surprise if they do. And perhaps it could turn out to be a decent addition, especially if available for the right transfer fee, although one has to wonder what it would mean for players like Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo.
