Chelsea look set to sign a new centre-back this summer and have reportedly added Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix to their shortlist.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a superb season with the Eagles. Not only was he one of the first names on Oliver Glasner's team sheet but he helped guide the side to the UEFA Conference League; a massive acheivement.
Lacroix's form saw him earn a call up to represent France in this year's World Cup, and should he feature, it would be just his fifth senior international cap.
The defender's growing reputation has now seen him linked with a big money move away from Selhurst Park, and, with Xabi Alonso set to take charge from July 1, Chelsea are among the teams interested.
Chelsea add Maxence Lacroix to summer shortlist
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues have included Lacroix in their list of defensive targets and are considering making an approach for him.
They're unlikely to be the only team closely monitoring the Frenchman's situation so will expect to face competition for his signature from elsewhere.
Liverpool are a club who have been linked with Lacroix in the past and could reignite their interest should it transpire the 26-year-old definitely wants to leave the Eagles.
It has to be said though, Crystal Palace are in a strong negotiating position because Lacroix is under contract until 2029. They're in no rush to sell, and would probably rather keep him for at least one more season.
However, despite still having three years left on his deal, the Blues should feel confident they can prise the France international away from the Eagles.
Lacroix refusing contract extension talks
Interestingly, Lacroix is believed to have rejected the chance to enter into talks over a possible contract extension.
Although any new deal would obviously come with a pay rise, the 26-year-old is eager to see what new oppotunities present themselves before the start of the 2026-27 season.
While it remains unknown how the centre-back feels about joining Chelsea amid their European exile after finishing in 10th last season, there is certainly a lot to suggest he'd welcome an approach.
During his first two years at Selhurst Park, Lacroix, who currently earns around £ per week, has scored four goals and registered four assists in 98 matches in all competitions.
In addition to last season's UEFA Conference League win, Lacroix was also part of the Palace side that won the 2024-25 FA Cup and 2025-26 Community Shield.
