We might be on the verge of an unprecedented period in Italian football, the era of Napoli. They have won two of the previous three Scudettos, under different managers as well. And with Antonio Conte at the helm, a consistent Serie A winner wherever he has been, the club could go on a run. Will a Chelsea player end up there?

Napoli already have a couple of former Chelsea players in key roles - Billy Gilmour and Romelu Lukaku. Could they be about to add a third?

Raheem Sterling was once considered the marquee signing of Chelsea's new ownership group when he was brought in from Manchester City during the first summer transfer window under their watch. While the Englishman has had his moments in the royal blue jersey, overall, his time at Stamford Bridge so far has been a flop and he does not appear to have a future in Enzo Maresca's team.

So, it might be best for both parties to go their separate ways. And as reported by TBR Football, Napoli have had conversations with Sterling’s camp, and the Italian club have confirmed that they would be interested in bringing him to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Conte is believed to have approved the idea.

Napoli have already brought in Noa Lang this summer. Now, they might be eyeing Sterling as his competition for the spot on the left flank, which was vacated by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia when he left for PSG.

Napoli are not the only club to be interested in Sterling either. He might be able to remain in the Premier League, and in London, with Chelsea's rivals Fulham another believed to hold an interest in the former Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal man.

Of course, the idea of remaining in the Premier League might be attractive to Sterling. But if he wants to compete for trophies, the choice should be pretty clear.
