Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea: Abysmal ratings across the board in Cup elimination
Tosin Adarabioyo: 7/10
Tosin looked better than his center-back partner because he was involved in fewer duels. For instance, he contested just two ground duels, winning 1 of 2. He won both aerial duels he contested and made more clearances than anyone else in a Chelsea shirt. However, he did miss a big chance, one which Joao Felix squandered.
Benoit Badiashile: 6/10
Badiashile had a poor game. He made an error that led to a very good chance. Even though he was not great, he was also hung out to dry. He won both tackles he attempted but lost three more ground duels. His passing was good, but whenever Chelsea lost the ball, it was helter-skelter, and the center-backs took the brunt of this organizational disarray.
Marc Cucurella: 6/10
Cucurella did not stand out in any way, which is indicative of the kind of game the away side had. He did create more chances than anyone else (3), but the backline was run ragged.
Renato Veiga: 5/10
Veiga is in a position where he can only contribute well in one role, and he can't even do that effectively. It's a sweet spot because that role is not his natural position, which means that whenever he has a stinker, some fans argue he cannot be blamed, considering it's not his "natural position." Veiga was abysmal, winning 2 of 7 duels, and no one on the pitch made more fouls than he did. He also made an error leading to the first goal, but that was part of a coordinated failure.
Enzo Fernandez: 5/10
Fernandez was inconsequential once again. He completed over 100 passes but lost possession of the ball 23 times, creating just one chance. He tried many things that simply did not come off. He was not as poor defensively, winning most of his duels.
