The summer transfer window keeps rolling on and so do the changes at Chelsea. The Blues have been one of the most active players in the world in terms of transfers. Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens have been brought in, as the club continues to back youngsters. On the other hand, there have been plenty of exits as well.
That is one aspect that opposition fans often fail to mention when talking about Chelsea's transfer business. Yes, they do sign a lot of players. But at the same time, they part ways with plenty as well, and a lot of the time, for more than they were signed for.
Noni Madueke falls under that category. He was brought in from PSV in early 2023 for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £29 million. Now, he has moved to Arsenal for a package worth an initial £48 million plus another £4 million in add-ons.
The move has now been officially announced by both clubs. Arsenal have confirmed that Madueke has signed a long-term contract and will wear the number 20 shirt.

It is safe to say that Madueke had a role in Enzo Maresca's plans, playing consistently on both flanks. So, Chelsea will miss him. That being said, that is an offer that the Blues could not have turned down, especially as they need to balance the books.
They have Pedro Neto on the right flank already, and he appears to be finding his best form now after a mediocre start to life at Chelsea. On the other hand, Estevao Willian is coming in this summer and he is considered by many as the best talent to come out of Brazil since Neymar.
So, it feels like Chelsea do have enough in their squad to replace Madueke. Of course, he was an option on the opposite flank as well but Gittens has been brought in there and it would not come as a surprise if the Blues end up signing another versatile player to provide cover in that area as well as the number 10 role.
