It has barely been a week since the summer transfer window closed. Chelsea made six additions. Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato and Alejandro Garnacho were signed on a permanent basis. On the other hand, Facundo Buonanotte has been brought in from Brighton & Hove Albion on a straight loan deal without any option or obligation to sign him in the future.
We already know who Chelsea's next signing is going to be though. And it does show why they might have decided not to go out and sign another high-profile striker in this summer window.
As reported by the club's official website, Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Emmanuel Emegha from RC Strasbourg. The Dutchman will be officially joining in 2026.
Emegha had been linked with a move to Chelsea for a little while, after he scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in 27 Ligue 1 appearances last season. And now, the move has been made offficial.
Official: Chelsea announce another signing out of nowhere
The question is, is Emegha ready to make an impact on this Chelsea team at this point in time? Well, honestly, we do not feel so.
From the little we have seen of Emegha, he still looks like a raw talent who needs to polish up his game and finishing a lot if he wants to be a success story at a club like Chelsea. You never know though, perhaps he will add that to his game this season.
One cannot forget that Emegha is still just 22 years of age and he still has a lot of time to add more to his game. But as things stand, we'd put both Pedro and Delap ahead of him in a pecking order. Let's see if that changes once he does actually arrive at Stamford Bridge.
