Chelsea continue counterproductive transfer chases with new target
Chelsea Football Club are seemingly continuing an absolutely inexpedient seeming transfer pattern. The Blues are now said to be chasing yet another winger. I know Enzo Maresca wants rid of Raheem Sterling - but this strategy now appears to be bordering some form of sabotage. It is doubtful that the Italian had anything to do with this one, if true. Nonetheless, the west London outfit are said to be targeting the new signing of Jadon Sancho, if you can even believe that.
Although, it is the trustworthy The Athletic that make the unbelievable claim about the Manchester United outcast. And, if we go by the previous two years of CFC transfer business, this latest ill-advised and unsuited apparent move fits Chelsea ownership and recruitment staff staggeringly well. Oh dear, oh dear. Is Sancho on his way to Stamford Bridge? The majority of the currently long-suffering Chels' fan base will not be pleased with this link.
There are so many reasons why Jadon Sancho is wrong for Chelsea, so here are just a few
My view on potential signings could always prove to be inaccurate, just to add a massive caveat to this assessment. But you know what I mean; it is certainly feasible that this stance would be proven accurate if Sancho did arrive at the Bridge. With a probably unnecessary disclaimer out of the way, let's begin.
Sancho has undeniable top-level talent in general. Yet something is amiss in his career. And that sentiment applies for the Englishman with respect to club and country. Someone who lost his place under former England boss Gareth Southgate some time ago.
And it doesn't look like the 24-year-old will be called up to play for the Three Lions anytime soon either. He is, by all appearances and comments, still out of favour at Man United with Erik ten Hag presiding over affairs. So the ex-Borussia Dortmund man needs a new club.
Sancho could well be a revitalised asset in the near future, if all goes well on his surely inevitable travels. Nevertheless, he is a wildly mismatched option for the Blues at present. And I am almost positive that Maresca would fully agree. It is therefore a shame that the latter has joined a club at which the gaffer only has a small reported say concerning recruits.
Two negatives don't make a positive. Matching Chelsea with yet another wideman, when two signed this week, might perhaps be described as footballing madness. When the player in question is believed to cause squad issues and is out of form, pursuing is disadvantageous along with a huge waste of resources.
