A Chelsea legend has made a startling claim about a Blues striker. The retired player believes Nicolas Jackson may eventually become a superior attacker to Manchester City's robotic goalscorer Erling Haaland. I would imagine that the general footballing world will have a collective laugh at the former CFC star. Yet we have all arguably underrated the extremely raw but threatening and gifted Jackson.
So, what did Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink say about the centre forward pair exactly? And is the Dutchman indeed very much mistaken in his subjective but still astonishing assertion? Elsewhere in the Chels' sphere, a possible new sponsor has been revealed. Will the notable airline involved with another Premier League team end up on the front of the current Chelsea shirt?
The Pride of London talk tops
Chelsea have not had a sponsor on their shirts all season; most of you will know this because you probably own one. Even though the campaign is at an infancy, having these types of revenue streams already in place prior to the beginning of the term is preferable.
Though the Blues fan base are now used to this sort of indecision, calamity, negligence and overall malfunctioning CFC under the Clearlake Capital group and the opposing Todd Boehly consortium. To be honest, the missing logo and funds issue has, unsurprisingly, previously occurred under this administration.
However, Boehly is apparently about to accept a deal of £40 million for a company to represent themselves on the blue kit. Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol revealed details of a supposed pending agreement between the west London outfit and an airline.
Chels bosses are reportedly in discussions with Qatar Airways, along with a couple of separate businesses, about being a significant patron. The other two organisations are Riyadh Air and Turkish Airlines. Failure to qualify for the Champions League is a rumoured reason why the English capital club couldn't secure a suitable sponsor in time. I beg to differ on the grounds of greed.
Wild Chelsea claim from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
Hasselbaink was an amazing striker. Deadly. Since hanging up his boots, his views on football are equally as head-turning - typically for the wrong reasons.
While the 52-year-old is certainly plugged-in to the modern game in his capacity as a top-level pundit, he appears to make outlandish suggestions in order to be relevant. He really doesn't need to. So check this one out below:
"Nicolas Jackson told he 'can become better than Erling Haaland' and be worth £150mJimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
'Nicolas Jackson and Erling Haaland are similar ages [23 and 24]. The major difference is, Haaland has a lot more top-level experience in terms of Champions League football. He’s been playing at that level since he burst onto the scene playing for Salzburg and has stayed there. Jackson hasn’t done that.
'That is what Jackson needs to do to be considered one of the best strikers in the world. He needs to be decisive on the pitch and he needs to score goals regularly at the highest level in the game. It’s a big challenge for him, but he has the potential to get there. If Jackson fulfils his potential, he will be a £150 million player. I’m convinced of that.
'[Jackson] is a player that has the potential to be able to do everything. He can play outside the box. He can play with the ball at his feet, those are things that Erling Haaland can’t really do. The only thing that Jackson needs to understand is, when he gets involved in the build-up, that game outside the box, sometimes he can try and do too many things. He doesn’t have to do that. Jackson has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world.'"
