A Chelsea legend has been left speechless by the west London club's 'ridiculous transfer strategy'. Blues title-winner William Gallas took aim at ownership duo Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. Sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart must also be held accountable if this very long-term plan doesn't come to fruition. But what exactly did the former CFC star say of the policy to overwhelmingly sign the brightest prospects of the footballing world?
Meanwhile a Chelsea star's medical has been booked in Spain. But when is Conor Gallagher's doctor's test? Will the England international leave for Spain and Atletico Madrid? Many fans will be saddened by the news.
There has also been an apparent U-turn regarding an unwanted player at Stamford Bridge. Is Trevoh Chalobah on his way out of the Fulham Road door? Or will the defender be able to convince manager Enzo Maresca that he's worth keeping?
Buying promise
In order to orchestrate the team's longevity, Chelsea Football Club bosses buy promising youth. Yet CFC's owners could be the unprecedented architects of their own downfall. That is if the starlets they so covet don't blossom into the world's eminent players.
This vast respective group of up-and-coming ballers may not even make the cut in the Premier League! Not many do. So this grand design is essentially a gamble. A huge gamble. Forget about the upcoming season, it could take years for this blueprint to show dividends.
And I am not alone in wondering if Boehly and Eghbali have made one of the most expensive mistakes in sporting history. William Gallas, a one-time triumphant Chels' favourite, agrees. In fact, you could say that the Frenchman takes a similar view to mine to the extreme. He was extremely critical of those in charge at the Bridge these days:
"I’m speechless. What can I say about Chelsea signing another goalkeeper, why are they doing it? What for? Why do they think they need another goalkeeper? It’s ridiculous, they have spent so much money and are still spending more. It’s sending a message to their current goalkeepers that they aren’t good enough. Chelsea should be looking at experienced defenders and a striker, that’s what they need to focus on."
Chelsea's price for disregarded defender
Trevoh Chalobah must surely leave for his own good. I am definitely empathetic for the 25-year-old; he needs a new club as he's likely in the Chelsea wilderness at this point.
The Telegraph suggest that Chalobah could be acquired for roughly £25 million; i'm unsure if that's a fair fee. The defender does now supposedly wish to depart CFC. However, the Blues won't take a penny less than their valuation.
Say goodbye to Conor Gallagher
Gallagher's Atletico medical is apparently taking place as we speak. Sky Sports claim that it was scheduled for some time on Thursday. The midfielder is moving to La Liga for a quoted £33m.
