Chelsea may dodge transfer bullet amid Lavia, Caicedo, James uncertainty
Chelsea Football Club may perhaps have dodged a rather large and costly potential bullet. This is because an ill-advised possible transfer is now unlikely to happen. It wouldn't have been the first major error of the Todd Boehly, and Behdad Eghbali BlueCo era. And it is probably not the final nightmare recruitment idea we'll have to deal with. So, where is Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho heading, and why aren't the Blues signing the temperamental and formerly electric winger?
There are, however, tangible concerns at Stamford Bridge with respect to the west Londoners' own current (huge) crop of players on the roster. And, once again, injuries are beginning to plague the squad and now the starting team at large. CFC manager Enzo Maresca has lost promising midfielder Romeo Lavia already. The former Southampton man is struggling with a hamstring issue once more. Meanwhile midfield general Moises Caicedo has a new problem. And well-liked Blue Reece James doesn't even have a potential return date amid uncertainty on Fulham Road. When will the important trio of stars be back in action?
Chelsea to miss out on Jadon Sancho as Juventus tap up Manchester United
If you regularly read The Pride of London's articles, you'll know this writer in particular was not keen on the Blues signing Sancho. I mean, at this stage I don't think it is worth relaying the many reasons why he is not the best option to take a chance on. I am sure the majority of our readership would fully agree.
Clearly United want the one-time England forward off their books to decrease wages and free up some space. Manager Erik ten Hag is thought not to want the wideman in his squad at all, which seems natural.
Nevertheless, Juventus are interested in giving the mercurial wingman another fresh chance to prove himself. Rated reporter Fabrizio Romano has now given some information on the Sancho saga. The Italian is apparently optimistic that the Serie A side will be able to come to an agreement with the English top-flight team. Sancho is happy to go to Italy, and talks continue between the two clubs.
Injury issues start to pile at Cobham
Over the past two years, Chels' sustained more than their fair share of fitness problems. And those difficulties appear to be recurring. A senior trio remain unavailable, and with no return dates yet mentioned. The list is below:
"Romeo Lavia had started to impress after putting those problems behind him but suffered a hamstring injury before the game with Wolves.
“Romeo has a small hamstring issue but not a huge concern,” said Maresca before the game. Potential return date: Unknown
Moises Caicedo was brought off in the second-half at Molineux after a collision. No update was given after the game. Potential return date: Unknown
Reece James suffered a hamstring injury before the start of the season and it remains to be seen when he could return, despite telling reporters earlier this month that his issue was not too bad. Potential return date: Unknown"
