Chelsea Player Ratings vs Newcastle: Cole Palmer tops ratings in narrow win

Chelsea completed their revenge against Newcastle yesterday as they took on Eddie Howe's men in a mid-table clash of mediocrity. The Magpies had a lot more to gain from the match, as a win could've taken them to seventh place. But, instead, NUFC remain 10th after the loss, worse still, CFC remain in 11th position despite winning

Nicolas Jackson: 8/10

Jackson was certainly effective against Newcastle yesterday. He contested 18 duels and applied the clever flick to Palmer's shot that wrong-footed Martin Dubravka. He now has the same number of goals and yellow cards (9), and the same number of big chances created as Gallagher (7). He won some crucial fouls for Chelsea, and his tackling was very good. He put in one hell of a shift.

Mykhailo Mudryk: 8/10

For the first time in a long time, Mudryk made a strong case to start over Sterling, and it would now be Pochettino's fault if the Ukrainian didn't start over Sterling in the next game. He was electric against Newcastle, and they had no answers to the questions he kept asking them. His goal crowned a truly superb performance. His dribbling was spot-on.

Cesare Casadei: 7/10

Casadei played well. He was particularly good in his duels, which is usually the hardest thing for youngsters to be good at.

Carney Chukwuemeka: N/A

Chukwuemeka was allowed to stretch his legs in a match situation, considering he has been sidelined through injury.

Mauricio Pochettino: 8/10

Pochettino made the right decision by not picking Silva, and it's a decision he should have made more often this season. The Blues still got outplayed on the night, but they showed consistent enough patterns that fashioned chances that ultimately helped Chelsea to score goals.
