Thiago Silva played his final Chelsea match at the weekend, as the Blues beat Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Fittingly, the Brazil veteran received a warm reception from the Stamford Bridge crowd, as they rejoiced to celebrate the legend spending his final day as a Chelsea player. It was an emotional send-off, given everything he's achieved not just at Chelsea but the sport in general.

The last few seasons have not been the kindest to Chelsea but one diamond in the rough has been Thiago Silva. There is a reason why he is considered one of the greatest centre backs of all-time and he proved this even in his later days at Chelsea.

But now, Chelsea must look ahead to the future. They need a player who can come in and make an instant impact, similar to when Silva was signed in 2020.

As per Italian outlet Tutto Juve (h/t Sport Witness), Chelsea have now joined the race to sign a Manchester United transfer target. The report claims that Chelsea consider a transfer hijack of Gleison Bremer, currently representing Juventus.

It is believed that an offer in excess of €70m (close to £60m), will persuade Juventus to at least consider selling Bremer. For now, though, Bremer is a crucial player to Juventus, having missed just one of the Old Lady's Serie A matches so far this season.

Bremer's contract does not expire in Turin until the summer of 2028. Therefore, Juventus have the upper hand in negotiations. Still, given their financial position, receiving communication from financial giants Manchester United and Chelsea could persuade the Italian side to consider parting ways with their star player.

Bremer is 27 years old, so he is yet to reach his peak performance years as a defender. Certainly, he is a player who could make it in the Premier League, making it an interesting race between United and Chelsea. Do not be surprised if more clubs enter the fray to sign him in the coming weeks and months.
