Chelsea's latest social media message that has upset fans
The peculiarly ran Chelsea Football Club has managed to alienate some its own fans due to their latest strange social media decisions. Ahead of England's Euro 2024 Final match versus the Spanish, there has been mild controversy created from the Blues account. A message was posted to Spain international and CFC full back Marc Cucurella, who has played well for his nation.
Meanwhile Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher of the Three Lions were seemingly left to merely hope. I am sure none of the trio are bothered at all about this, they have a much more important thing to worry about: securing silverware for their respective countries, for a start. Yet, since Todd Boehly and his cohorts literally took over at Stamford Bridge, the club is run less and less like the traditional outfit we all respected.
Football media bores me to tears
I am all for new ideas and innovation. But Premier League football sides are ever so boring and predictable on a regular basis when it comes to Twitter, sorry, X, Facebook, or Instagram. Whatever platform or app it is - they can be cringeworthy and hackneyed.
The smaller elite clubs are especially tedious and monotonous in their approach to independently entertaining their supporters. Trends are not instantly followed but slowly copied or imitated. Bigger accounts belonging to giant outfits, such as Chelsea, are, or were, more trendsetting than their slightly more insignificant competitors. But now it's all vanilla online: nobody wants to make any waves or get cancelled for unpleasantness/error great or slight.
Yet the Blues still employ, or have installed, some rather oblivious or uniformed (at the very least) people. Meanwhile commenters on football posts are truly savage, discerning and unwilling to let anything they dislike or disagree with in the absolute slightest pass.
Chelsea bosses and media types make another awkward move
So, to that end, someone at CFC had the ridiculously bright idea to make a completely partisan post about the Euros. For 24 hours they only wished Marc Cucurella good luck, whist ignoring Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher. A head in the clouds moment.
A simple dual post referencing all three Blues along with felicitations for both teams would suffice here. There you go, I can be boring too!
The England duo have now been mentioned - only a day later. Nevertheless, it still feels like some amateurs (or non-footballing individuals) are running certain aspects of this great organisation. And the judicious fan base subsequently duly let them know:
