Chelsea Football Club are still trying to sign a new striker, but have left it late as the transfer deadline looms. Deadly Napoli centre forward Victor Osimhen apparently remains on the wishlist as his move to Saudi Arabia falls through. Meanwhile talented yet injury-plagued Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also a target for the Blues, if we trust reporting on Friday evening. Will either capable and suitable goalscorer join the west London outfit? Or will another couple of ideal signings get away from CFC.

There is a shock claim as we approach Premier League game week three as well. Will Senegal international Nicolas Jackson leave Stamford Bridge this summer? The inconsistent and polarising forward is supposedly wanted by a rival English top-flight team. Though Jackson seems to be in Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca's plans at the moment. So is an exit likely? It was actually stated that Jhon Duran could be heading to Fulham Road in a swap for the 23-year-old.

Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea in unlikely trade talk with Aston Villa's Jhon Duran

Duran would improve options for Maresca's unbalanced squad. There is a lack of central strikers and a ridiculous abundance of wingers. A department which may even stupidly be added to today with the unwise addition of Manchester United wideman Jadon Sancho potentially occurring in the capital.

Anyway, I digress, back to Duran. He is an up-and-coming prospect but a mercurial and slightly unproven one. I am not sure he has the right profile or temperament for such a work in progress side. Nor is the Colombian necessarily suited to be paired with a studious and fastidious boss such as the Italian. I predict a hypothetical clash of egos there.

And the only link emerging on the Aston Villa starlet concerns a possible swap with Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson. I can't see that proposed agreement happening, to be honest. Although if there were money going to Chels' as well, I would advocate the move. Read more on the former Villa scout's thoughts here.

Journalist suggests Blues continue pursuing targets

Victor Osimhen could still go to Chelsea, according to transfer expert Dean Jones. Jones connects the BlueCo outfit with monitoring Everton man Dominic Calvert-Lewin too. But the latter assertion doesn't feel that probable to be honest.

While trusted The Athletic reporter David Ornstein believes the Blues are merely awaiting confirmation from one particular player. Ornstein declares that CFC want the 'green light' from Osimhen.
