Colwill and Chilwell HYPE UP Disasi for another heroic display
I am going to put it like this: Disasi made his name in the Premier League against Manchester City. There.
In spite of the versatility to play as a rightback or a threateningly imposing and apparently qualified centrehalf, I wasn't positive that Disasi would make it at Stamford Bridge. It is best to wait for the longest possible time before offering a verdict on elite footballers, I have found.
However, I can now happily say that Chelsea might have a very accomplished, committed and dedicated centreback. Maybe a slightly raw one for the upper echelon at present, arguably. But there is a chance that the 25-year-old was even a bargain at a reported £38.5 million. You never know.
The former Paris Saint-Germain youth and Monaco senior won rave reviews from notoriously honest pundits such as Jamie Carragher. Another ex-Liverpool man, Jamie Redknapp, also praised Disasi after his startling heroics versus the often domineering Manchester City. The latter threw himself in the way of anything coming and never let his teammates down during the recent 1-1 draw.
With the Reds up next in the English Football League Cup Final on Sunday, the west Londoners' back line will be hopeful of another defensive masterclass from Disasi. To that end, it appears that two notable Blues have filled their friend in with a Wembley Stadium lowdown:
"Chelsea face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final and it will be the first time that Axel Disasi will be stepping onto the Wembley pitch.
The central defender has now told the Evening Standard what team-mates Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell have said to him about the famous stadium.
Disasi is a nailed on starter after his performance in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City over the weekend.
He was exceptional, with Gary Lineker describing him as “fantastic” following the game.
What Levi Colwill has told Axel Disasi about Wembley
Disasi is buzzing over the prospect of playing at Wembley after learning about how great the stadium is from Colwill.
'I’ve never played at Wembley. But I visited this stadium with my school when we visited London for the weekend. I think it was a West Ham game. It was great, very nice. The stadium was very big. Colwill and Chilwell have told me the stadium is very great.
'I am excited. It will be great to play there. It is a dream to play there and in every big stadium in the world, and to have the opportunity to win the first title since coming here.'"
Chelsea prospect Levi Colwill wanted for transfer - report
Talking of Colwill, there is supposedly, and coincidentally, interest in him from two clubs we have spoken of today: PSG and LFC. Let's hear what Evening Standard have to say:
"Paris Saint-Germain are admirers of Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.
Chelsea remain adamant they will not entertain offers for the 20-year-old, who signed a new six-year contract last summer and is happy at Stamford Bridge.
But PSG and Liverpool are both tracking Colwill in case Chelsea are forced to sell more academy players to help them balance the books"
