Fabrizio Romano gives Chelsea fans world-class striker hope
In the know Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specialises in transfers, has given fans of Chelsea Football Club hope. There could be a world-class striker on his way to Stamford Bridge. In the meantime, will the Blues manage to finally rid themselves of an unwanted and highly paid player? Possibly. The possible leaver may even be included in a deal which secures the aforementioned centre forward. Happy days at CFC.
There were also some harsh comments and appraisals following the west London side's friendly loss to Celtic. Although it was a non-competitive match, it remains slightly worrying for the Chelsea fan base. Manager Enzo Maresca was honest after the practice match. The Blues boss demands improvements from his men before the Premier League season begins.
Enzo Maresca speaks candidly subsequent to Chelsea's defeat to Celtic
Obviously all managers are upset when they lose any fixture. Even games that do not count towards anything whatsoever must feel important to people in charge. Clearly that sentiment can be applied to involved stars, too.
And Maresca was not best pleased to ship four goals to the Hoops either. To be fair, Celtic are an underrated team in present world football. Yet the outcome, or result, from this one was a bit surprising. The Scottish Premiership champions aren't that good; an experimental and fresh EPL outfit such as Chels' should bypass them, really.
In spite of dominance on the ball, and some CFC moves which caught supporters' eyes at times, the modern Blues left much to be desired. There were problems in every area, especially the defence. So what did the gaffer say about the effort?
"Off the ball we need to improve things. You can see sometimes we confuse when we need to play short and when we need to play a little bit longer but that is part of the process.
- Enzo Maresca
We maintained a high line but when the ball is not under pressure, you need to drop … we are still confusing some things on the ball and off the ball. It is normal in this moment when we are trying to do something new."
Fabrizio Romano talks Chelsea's reignited pursuit of Napoli's Victor Osimhen amid chance of offloading Romelu Lukaku as sweetener in prospective deal
Let's be frank, Lukaku hasn't had a place at Chelsea over a lasting period at the Bridge. He is not coveted by newly installed boss Maresca, either. Although he may be worthy in other divisions. Nevertheless, the Belgium international's time on Fulham Road is apparently coming to an end at last.
Romano has named Lukaku as a possible factor in a part exchange. If Chels managed to sign Osimhen from the Napoli and sell them the Belgian - it'd arguably be a triumph for the English capital club.
Romano claims the Naples side are 'open' to Lukaku being included in the hypothetical agreement. However, the Nigerian had previously agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain. Let's see what occurs.
