In her return to the lineup, Lauren James picked up her first goal since January while Hannah Hampton acted as a literal wall at the back to launch Chelsea Women into its fifth consecutive Conti Cup final.

3. Hannah Hampton showed off world-class reflexes, piled up 10 saves

City did a lot of things right to create chances throughout. The only problem---there was a rock wall in yellow between those CFCW posts. Since Hampton was given that opportunity against Bristol City in the Women's Super League, she hasn't looked back. Some games it's her play building out the back. Last night, it was all about her stop-stopping. Don't let me forget the class footwork we saw beginning the Blues' buildup on Thursday. Confidence was gushing out of those gloves. Hampton, who nearly went out on loan in the summer has now taken a stranglehold on the west Londoners' No. 1 spot in net.

Sure, Mary Earps is England's No. 1, but it is performances like these that make you want to see the ex-Birmingham City stand out more often on the international stage. Four clean sheets in the league from six contests. One in the FA Cup. Now, one in the Conti Cup. Just three goals conceded since late December. Three saves stood out more than the rest, two on Shaw, and one from close range off the boot of Hemp. Her one-handed save that kept the Jamaican out was simply top drawer.

Hayes rightfully praised the English stop-stopper in the post-game.

"Hampton was superb, that's what you get paid for. Whole team deserves credit for digging in. We weren't at our best, weren't at our freshest, but it was gutsy from us."
