In her return to the lineup, Lauren James picked up her first goal since January while Hannah Hampton acted as a literal wall at the back to launch Chelsea Women into its fifth consecutive Conti Cup final.

2. Nearly the same narrative plays out between these two once again

Somehow, the storyline kind of read the same way twice. A goalkeeper won Player of the Match. One uncharacteristic blunder from a quality player resulted in the only goal. And not to mention controversy when it came to those professionals with whistles. It was like Groundhog Day, but the victor at the end changed.

Taylor and numerous players in light blue on the pitch thought the club should have been awarded a penalty in the stoppage time. That wasn't the case as it looked as if the official missed Cuthbert tripping Greenwood in the penalty late on. Taylor, who recently signed an extension felt hard done by the result.

"We're feeling aggrieved, obviously. We've seen it back and seen how close the referee was - I think it's a blatant penalty," the City manager stated. "Also, five minutes was pretty comical with the amount of time-wasting that was going on."

1. Taking Mayra Ramirez out due to injury was the right decision, but it hurt Chelsea throughout

Someway, If we're going to talk about Chelsea's injury list on the men's side, you cannot leave out the women. It just keeps growing. Mayra Ramirez, the only true 100 percent healthy No. 9 on the roster saw her night come to an end early in the 33'. Aggie Beever-Jones slotted right in, but it was clear, that the physicality the Colombian brings in her hold-up play was sorely missed. That target was missing, and if she goes down for some time even a week, there could be some issues.

Chelsea's sideline leader expressed that she does not know much about the status of Ramirez, but it did seem promising to see her watch off the pitch in under her own power. It wasn't worth the risk with how slim the club is right now in that No. 9 spot, but it has to be said that in no way would City have dominated as much as it did in the second half if No. 35 was up there doing her thing. Catarina Macario did not see any time, which was probably for the best as the road down the stretch gets even more rigorous.

A trip to Everton is on tap next for Chelsea Women in the FA Cup quarterfinals. The fixture is scheduled to kick off on Sunday afternoon.
