Chelsea will be eager to strengthen their squad this summer, on the back of their Club World Cup triumph. In recent weeks, they have been more concerned with exits though. Two further big-name departures are still expected to be sanctioned before this transfer window closes, with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku headed for the exit door.
On the other hand, there are more Chelsea players being linked with exits. One regular starter under Enzo Maresca appears to have caught the eye of European champions, Paris Saint-Germain.
As reported by Fichajes, Luis Enrique has identified Enzo Fernandez as the ideal player to replace Fabian Ruiz, who appears to be on his way out of the team. PSG have submitted an offer of around €150 million, split between €125 million fixed and €25 million variable.
It remains to be seen how accurate the reports coming out of Spain are. Earlier in the summer, Fernandez was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as well. But as we all know, that led to nowhere of substance.
PSG reportedly submit €150m offer for Chelsea player
Fernandez is a very important part of this current Chelsea setup. And it is hard to imagine that the club would consider the Argentine's exit at this point in time, even if a big offer arrives at their table.
We are just starting to see the best of Fernandez. The Argentine has admitted in the past that at the start, he struggled to adjust to the pace of the Premier League. But now, he seems to have settled in and is showing his best.
Maresca certainly appears to know how to get the best out of Fernandez. He has turned him into a midfielder who not only controls the rhythm in the middle of the park but also arrives late into the box and scores consistently.
Last season, the Argentine scored 9 goals and provided 17 assists. And while easy to forget, he is still just 24 years of age. So, there might be a lot more to come.
