Football reporter Simon Johnson has great insight into the state of Chelsea and is usually right about the things happening at the club. This week on his Substack site, he listed an incredible number of players that he believes Chelsea will sell this summer.

Rather than just listing the players out and letting you decide, we thought it would be a fun exercise to rate the possible transfers in 3 categories: Very Likely, Possible, and Not Likely.

Let’s start with the transfers we feel are “Not Likely” to happen and why.

Not Likely to be sold:

These are the players that we believe with near certainty that they will be back at Chelsea next season, unless of course a massive bid comes in.

Mykhailo Mudryk

Mudryk is in the middle of a suspension and we have no idea how long it will last. There has been little to no information released about this suspension so we feel a transfer is unlikely because it may just not be possible for him to transfer clubs.

Noni Madueke

It would have to take a massive bid for Chelsea to move on from Madueke who has been a productive player for them and is still just 23 years old. He also makes just £50k a week so his wages are manageable.

Lesley Ugochukwu

We can see Lesley Ugochukwu be a part of the Chelsea squad next season as a squad player to provide some depth in central midfield. Romeo Lavia is not a reliable option and there are others coming in like Dario Essugo but Ugochukwu now has 2 years of experience in the Premier League and has been a solid contributor. If he does go anywhere it will be on loan.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Dewsbury-Hall has been a useful squad player for Chelsea this season, especially in the Conference League where he has done the most damage with 3 goals and an assist in 10 appearances. Chelsea may look for a cheaper option for his role but he seems happy in his role and it’s likely that he sticks around as a depth piece for Enzo Maresca.
