Things are changing quickly at Stamford Bridge at the moment, by the looks of it. Not too long ago, Chelsea were seen as strong contenders to win multiple trophies this season under Enzo Maresca. However, recent performances and results have raised eyebrows, and soon, the Blues are set to have a new man in the dugout.

Maresca, who led the club to win the Conference League and the Club World Cup, had made some questionable decisions lately, resulting in Chelsea winning just one of their last five Premier League matches. As a result, trouble was brewing in the background, which became even more evident from the manager's recent statement claiming that he was feeling a lack of support.

Now, Chelsea have officially confirmed that they have parted ways with Maresca. It comes less than six months after their Club World Cup triumph.

While this development wasn't entirely unexpected, it has certainly raised questions among fans about what might be the real reason Maresca was shown the exit door. If everything had been fine behind the scenes, it is likely that the club would have backed him for longer, like they had done during the low points in the past.

TalkSPORT chief football correspondent, Alex Cook, recently shed some light on the matter. The main fallout at Chelsea was between Maresca and co-owner Behdad Eghbali.

It might have been building up for a while. Maresca's request for a new centre-back wasn’t granted following Levi Colwill’s injury. This might possibly be one of the major factors behind the deteriorating relationship between the owners and the manager. The recent run of bad results didn’t help either.

Nevertheless, Chelsea will have to find a new manager soon, one who could take the helm of the club mid-season and guide them to better results and hopefully trophies. Liam Rosenior has been suggested as the leading candidate early on. A name that will not impress the supporters. But this ownership does not seem to care much about that, to be honest.

Chelsea will face Manchester City next, so this could not have come at a worse time. Additionally, the transfer window is open, with the club looking to bring in new players to reinforce multiple positions, and a manager will certainly help in choosing players that align with the club’s vision.
