A consistent goalscorer is something Chelsea could do with right now. The goals are coming but you never know from where. That is both a good thing and a bad thing. Throughout history, top teams have always had consistent goalscorers. Whether it be Lionel Messi for Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid, Ronaldo for Brazil, the list goes on.
If Chelsea want to compete for the biggest prizes in football, they will almost certainly need one. Unfortunately, neither Joao Pedro nor Liam Delap seem to fit that description at the moment.
Pedro started his time in a Chelsea jersey brilliantly and for a while, it had looked like Chelsea had found their man. But his form has cooled down significantly in recent times. On the other hand, Delap has only managed two goals since arriving in the summer. Not a great record by any stretch of the imagination, even when you take his injury absence into consideration.
Serhou Guirassy is someone who has been scoring for fun for the past few years now. And it looks like there is a special release clause for Chelsea, if they fancy signing the Borussia Dortmund frontman.
Striker has special €50m release clause for Chelsea
As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Guirassy is one to watch for the summer, as he could leave Borussia Dortmund. He is understood to have a release clause that should be around €50 million. It applies to seven top clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Guirassy's output has been elite for Borussia Dortmund. He has scored 47 goals and provided 13 assists in 68 games for them across all competitions.
Most impressive have been his performances in the Champions League. Most people struggle to cope with the step-up in opposition but Guirassy has thrived. He managed 13 goals in 14 games last season in Europe's top competition and has three goals and three assists in five games this time around.
Of course, it is worth mentioning that Guirassy is 29 years of age. And Chelsea have rarely gone for experienced players under the new ownership.
