Thomas Tuchel is one of Chelsea's best managers in recent times. It's been a pretty dark period for the Blues since the German coach left (except last season), and some fans would even argue that Chelsea should have never let him go.

Even after his Chelsea reign, though, Tuchel still has an implicit say on what goes down at Chelsea. One of the most important and talented players at Chelsea, Reece James, is a key part of the England team he's putting together.

As we look ahead to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, there is every likelihood that Reece James will travel. Having missed out on key action in the past due to injuries, James will be hungry to prove himself on the international stage.

Thomas Tuchel won't keep Reece James fit for Chelsea

In the international break, Thomas Tuchel started Reece James in both games. This was despite James starting only one game for Chelsea in their opening three. There is a feeling among fans that preserving Reece James is one-sided by Chelsea, not followed by England.

James, unsurprisingly, showcased his quality yet again for England. He provided an assist in the 2-0 win over Andorra, probably acting as England's best player, or at least one of them.

There is a feeling that this might be James' time, and this could be his best season yet. All of the foundations are falling in place - He's back in the Champions League, he's back working with Tuchel, and he's in contention for a World Cup place.

Of course, Chelsea fans know not to jump the gun too early. They've seen this momentum play out many times with James, only for James to be held back by an injury setback. We obviously hope this doesn't happen again, but naturally, fans will err on the side of caution.

Reece James deserves a spot in the World Cup squad, if he's fit. Everybody knows he's a world-class talent, and he's easily one of the best full-backs in the world. He would be a prized asset for England, and Tuchel knows this from history.

With Tuchel being a master of knockout soccer, winning the Champions League with Chelsea no less, he'll put his expertise to great use. He and James could be the dream team.

On a complete side note, how good has Tuchel been so far for England? He's yet to experience not winning a game for the Three Lions. This is perfect momentum for the former Chelsea coach to bring into the 2026 World Cup.

Either way, from Tuchel's use of Reece James, he's proven that he owes nothing to Chelsea. He won't do them any favors in keeping James fit, and he will use one of his best assets when he can.

Too often in the past, clubs have bullied England into resting their key players - This won't happen with Tuchel. Chelsea fans must not anticipate any rest for James during the upcoming international breaks.
