Over the years, Chelsea's Cobham Academy has been one of the best in the world for developing young footballers, who have gone on to have successful and fulfilling careers, whether that be at Stamford Bridge or elsewhere.
Some of those players include Reece James, Levi Colwill, and Josh Acheampong, who are currently involved in Chelsea's first team, but others who have moved on from Chelsea's academy and are applying their trade elsewhere are Marc Guehi, Tyrique George, and Lewis Hall, even stretching back to Tammy Abraham and Nathan Ake.
For September, three members of Cobham New Gen, formerly Chelsea Under-21s, Leo Black, Reggie Watson, and Chizaram Ezenwata, have been nominated for player of the month after the team went unbeaten in the league, defeating Arsenal and Fulham.
All three have had an impressive start to the season, helping their side reach fourth in the league, with Watson scoring five goals in the opening four games and recently making his Chelsea first-team debut against Leeds in the EFL Cup.
Black, who predominantly plays as a right back/wing back and is currently on trial at Chelsea from Tottenham, scored both his goals this month from the right side of defence, and for Ezenwata he got a goal and two assists in September, bringing his goal involvements this season to four.
If either were to win the Player of the Month award, they would be joining players such as Shumaira Mheuka, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, and Mason Burstow to win the Premier League 2 award whilst playing for the Chelsea under-21's side.
The trio are going up against Will Wright (Liverpool), Cruz Ibeh (Middlesbrough), Harvey Vincent (Leeds United), Charlie Dinsdale (Sunderland) and Tyrese Hall (Tottenham Hotspur), with all nominees being nominated by the Premier League Football Development Panel, with the winner being announced next week.
