Coming off a three-week international break and without a Premier League win since August, Xabi Alonso would have hoped for a statement performance, and he definitely got that from his players.

The Blues could not have asked for a better start than two goals in the opening three minutes, with Jordan Henderson and Morgan Rogers. Joao Pedro would bag a goal either side of Evanilson's scramble finish for the Cherries, before Henderson would round off the performance with a perfect free kick 20 minutes from time.

Xabi Alonso will hope that his side can carry the momentum forward into their game against Everton on Saturday, but here are the three players who impressed the Spaniard as Chelsea got back to winning ways.

1. Jordan Henderson

Unc's still got it.

There's only one place to start: two goals and an assist for Henderson, in what were his first Premier League goal involvements since December 2025, for Brentford against Leeds.

36-year-old Henderson started the rout, lashing in a sensational opener, before a simple pass to Morgan Rogers for the Englishman to finish and make it 2-0, before curling in a 30 yard free kick, to put the exclamation point on his performance.

It wasn't just Henderson's attacking output that impressed; the ex-Brentford and Liverpool man created two chances, as well as covering the most ground with 11.9 kilometres, totting up eight defensive contributions, and making three recoveries, a block and an interception.

2. Joao Pedro

It seems like every time the Brazilian pulls on the Blue of Chelsea, he's always one of the best players on the pitch, and Saturday was no different, another two goals for Pedro, which puts his tally at five Premier League goals this season, only behind Erling Haaland.

Pedro had a quiet first half, and it took a while for him to get involved, but he definitely made his mark in the second 45. After missing Chelsea's game against Brentford just before the international break, Pedro came back wanting to make up for lost time.

His first finish was an arrow into the roof of the net after relentless play from Pedro Neto, but his second was one of a confident striker, making a perfectly timed run into the box and cushioning it past Petrovic.

3. Pep Chavarria

It seems like Chavarria is getting better and better as the weeks go on, with the Spaniard providing an excellent cross for Joao Pedro's second goal, as well as bombing up and down the left-hand side, doing his attacking and defensive duties.

His composure on the ball, as well as his dual threat, makes him a confident pick for Xabi Alonso's XI, and it looks like he could be a mainstay for the busy upcoming games.

The wing-back covered the second-most distance in the game after Jordan Henderson with 11.4 kilometres. He made two progressive carries, completed one of two crosses and two of six long balls. He also completed 35 out of 39 passes with 90 per cent accuracy.
