Currently, there are two Chelsea players with contracts expiring in June 2025; those players are Jadon Sancho and Lucas Bergström. But what are the conditions of their contracts?

New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has had many mammoth tasks on his to-do list since arriving as Chelsea boss last summer. While his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino did a good enough job, not even the Argentine could work miracles.

Due to years of being mismanaged and reckless in the transfer window, Chelsea are poked-fun-at for having a squad size with the same population as a small island.

Throughout this season so far, and with two transfer windows under his belt, Enzo Maresca has done well to maintain that balance within the squad. He has achieved this through two avenues: contract negotiations for those who fit and player sales for those who don't

Jadon Sancho

The most prominent player out of contract this year is Jadon Sancho. This is because as it stands, he isn't technically a Chelsea player. However, this will not be the case for long.

Currently on loan at Stamford Bridge, Jadon Sancho will become a permanent Chelsea player after his loan contract expires. This is because when the Blues signed him on loan from Manchester United, there was an agreed obligation to buy.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will sign Jadon Sancho after his loan deal ends this summer. This obligation is in no doubt. The only factor which could sway is the price that Chelsea will pay to Man United.

In his own words, Romano said: "The obligation to buy is not in doubt. It’s just the amount of money that’s going to change based on add-ons which is based on the final position of Chelsea in the Premier League table."

Chelsea fans will hope that with a permanent contract on the table, Jadon Sancho's performances will improve. He's not been the most consistent in Stamford Bridge blue, after all.

Lucas Bergström

Chelsea signed Lucas Bergström from Turkish side TPS as a youngster. He spent time developing in the Chelsea academy, only to be promoted to the first team in 2022.

However, his early adult life hasn't been quite as turbulent as his teenage life. After all, he has not made a league appearance for Chelsea, despite ageing at 22 years old.

Therefore, there is an expectation that Lucas Bergström will be allowed to leave Chelsea after his contract expires this summer. He doesn't have much transfer value, so it's easier for a club of Chelsea's size to allow him to leave rather than offering a new contract.
