Chelsea have just two players with contracts expiring this summer, and that's unsurprising given the plethora of talent that has arrived at Stamford Bridge over the years. Pedro Neto became the 35th signing made by the club since its ownership changed hands in May 2022.
Many of Enzo Maresca's squad head into the transfer window with uncertain futures and the expectation that the club will be busy looking to strengthen in several areas. Brighton's Joao Pedro is believed to have told close friends he'd be "interested" in joining the Blues, while Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has emerged as a potential target.
It promises to be an interesting summer at the Bridge, and the focus will be on entering the 2025-26 campaign with a team strong enough to push on after a potential Champions League qualification finish this term. But one of Maresca's most-used players may no longer be at the club.
Chelsea players contracts up this summer
Jadon Sancho

When Chelsea rescued Jadon Sancho from his Manchester United nightmare it looked to be a fresh start for the English winger. A disastrous spell at Old Trafford was set to be put behind him after the Blues agreed on a loan supposedly with an obligation to buy for £25m.
Sancho started the season brightly and as if he had a point to prove with four assists in his first three Premier League outings. United fans had warned that the 25-year-old would lose his way as the season progressed but two goals in a row, including in a 4-3 away win at Tottenham Hotspur suggested otherwise.
That was until the former Borussia Dortmund attacker hit a slump at the turn of the year. So bad was his form that word of Chelsea pulling the plug on his loan came to light.
Somehow, the West London giants could terminate his loan by paying a £5m penalty. The "obligation" turned into an "option" which actually was an astute piece of business, given it's a get out of jail card over a player who needed to prove himself.
Sancho's current deal is set to expire this summer if the club don't agree to sign him permanently. He'll return to United where he's public enemy number one, after taking a dig at the Red Devils since arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Lucas Bergstrom

One of the thousands (actually five) of goalkeepers Chelsea has on their books is Lucas Bergstrom, who has been with the club since the summer of 2019. The 22-year-old Finnish shot-stopper arrived from his homeland and spent time in Cobham during his youth career.
Bergstrom has failed to make the step up to the Blues' first-team and has spent spells out on loan at EFL League One outfit Peterborough United and Swedish minnows Brommapojkarna. He's yet to make a single senior appearance and has appeared just five times in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy this season.
It would be extremely surprising if the 16-cap Finland U21 international continues his career at Stamford Bridge. The tallest player in the English top-flight (6ft9in) could maybe sign an extension and head out on loan again but a permanent exit seems likeliest.
