This evening, Chelsea travels to London Stadium to face West Ham United in the Premier League. It's certainly not the first time these two familiar foes have locked horns, as it's a fixture as old as time.

In the current era, there's a key man at the helm of the home team - Graham Potter. The former Chelsea boss is going through a tough time in the Hammer hotseat, and it's in Enzo Maresca's objectives to make that time even tougher today.

Neither team started on winning ways in matchday 1 of this Premier League season. Chelsea drew against Palace, whereas West Ham were humiliated by Sunderland.

Let's kick it back and look at the last 5 meetings of these two teams.

West Ham vs Chelsea results over the last 5 meetings

Chelsea 2-1 West Ham United (Premier League)

The last time Chelsea faces West Ham was at Stamford Bridge. It could have easily been a different tale, after Jarrod Bowen scored the first goal of the match to put West Ham ahead just before half time.

Usually, that's the perfect time to score, but it inspired changes from Enzo Maresca. Chelsea come out of the second half strong, and scored in the opening ten minutes via Pedro Neto. Then, an own goal from Aaron Wan-Bissaka gave Chelsea the lead ten minutes afterwards.

West Ham 0-3 Chelsea (Premier League)

When Chelsea last visited the London Stadium, they came home with three points, after scoring three goals.

It was a flying start for the Blues, as Nicolas Jackson scored a goal within just four minutes. He then followed it up with a second in the 18th minute.

Chelsea entered the tunnel at halftime with a comfortable two-goal lead. Then, it was business as usual for Chelsea's star player, Cole Palmer, who turned that into a three-goal lead two minutes into the second half.

Chelsea 5-0 West Ham (Premier League)

Towards the end of the 2023/24 season, Chelsea stunned their London rivals with a 5-0 humiliation at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea scored three without reply in the first half of this match, courtesy of quickfire goals from Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Noni Madueke. Then, in the second half, Nicolas Jackson made it the Jackson show. He added to his assist with two goals.

Noticing a theme here? Jackson loves playing against West Ham. Shame he won't play today.

West Ham 3-1 Chelsea (Premier League)

This game had absolutely everything - Red cards, penalties, late drama.

Nayef Aguerd set the tone for this game early on, scoring a header inside seven minutes. Shortly after, he was shown a yellow card.

Then, before the half-hour mark, Carney Chukwuemeka replied to make it 1-1. It could have easily been 1-2 to Chelsea, but Enzo Fernandez missed a penalty before half-time.

Not long into the second half, James Ward-Prowse provided his second assist, converted by Michail Antonio.

Nayef Aguerd was presented his second yellow card and sent off for the home side.

From there, it was all Chelsea. They finished the game with a huge majority of possession due to their dominance of the game, but it didn't end in their favor.

Instead, the Blues gave away a penalty in the closing moments, and West Ham converted to make it 3-1, even with 10 men.

West Ham 1-1 Chelsea (Premier League)

Yet another early goal was scored in this match, this time by Joao Felix. He converted within 16 minutes, but Emerson (I know, I know) scored a quick response goal for West Ham to draw their level at 1-1.

And that's exactly how the game finished, but it wasn't through a lack of action. Actually, West Ham did score a goal late on, but it was ultimately ruled out through VAR.

Chelsea could count their lucky stars there.
