It would be an understatement to say that Mason Mount was a beloved figure during his time at Chelsea. He had come through the club's youth ranks and was the first academy graduate in a long time to establish himself as a first-team starter, after getting his chance under the management of Frank Lampard, a player many compared him to.

Most fans expected Mount to become Chelsea's captain one day. But in the summer of 2023, his time at Stamford Bridge came to a close, faster than anybody could have expected, as he joined Manchester United.

With not much time left on his contract, Chelsea decided it was time to part ways, and in hindsight, they have been proven right. Once one of the most active players in English football, Mount has struggled with constant injuries for the past few seasons and looked like a shell of his former self since pulling on the Manchester United shirt.

Mount made a return to Stamford Bridge this week to take on Chelsea but was not able to make much of an impact against his former side. A goal from Marc Cucurella improved the Blues' chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

It is safe to say that Chelsea fans have not forgotten, or forgiven, Mount's decision to leave. And even though a couple of years have passed, they made their feelings clear about someone who was once considered a club hero.

As reported by Sky Sports, Mount was getting the 'Chelsea reject' chant. He was also roundly booed whenever he touched the ball.

It is sad to see how the relationship has soured between Chelsea fans and Mount. It has always been suggested that there was more to the decision behind his leaving than the supporters know. But until the full story comes out, it is safe to say that the English midfielder will continue to draw the boos at Stamford Bridge.
