Chelsea fans will be keeping a close eye on the international action over the next 24 hours, with two Blues stars in action tonight and another set to feature in the early hours of Friday morning.
Jorrel Hato and Pedro Neto will both have the opportunity to play competitive football in their respective Nations League fixtures, while Estevão will be hoping to get valuable minutes when Brazil take on Australia. The young Brazilian will be keen to make the most of the long trip and opportunity, hoping to play at least 60 minutes in both of the friendlies down under. .
Here’s a look at the chances of each Chelsea player featuring in their respective games over the next 24 hours.
Jorrel Hato - Netherlands vs Germany - 7.45pm
The big game on Thursday night sees two European rivals go head-to-head, with a new era beginning for both sides as Jürgen Klopp takes charge of Germany and Xavi Hernández begins his reign as Netherlands boss.
Jorrel Hato could have an opportunity to feature at left-back, with Nathan Aké and Micky van de Ven the other natural options in the squad. If Xavi wants more attacking output from his full-backs, Hato could be the obvious choice ahead of the more defensively minded centre-backs.
It would be a tough game for Hato to come into, particularly after his confidence took a hit following his mistake against Hull and hooked at half time. A strong performance against Germany, though, could be the perfect way to respond.
Pedro Neto - Portugal vs Wales - 7:45pm
Pedro Neto is currently viewed as a back-up option within a Portugal squad packed with quality across the pitch. New head coach Jorge Jesus will now assess his options and will be hoping to get a full look at his squad during the upcoming fixtures.
If Jesus opts for a system similar to Xabi Alonso’s, Neto could find it difficult to break into the team ahead of João Cancelo, Matheus Nunes or Diogo Dalot. His chances may improve if Portugal line up with traditional wingers, where his direct style and ability to play out wide could be more valuable.
Rafael Leão is the only natural winger listed on the left, while Gonçalo Guedes, Francisco Conceição and even Francisco Trincão could all provide competition for Neto on the right. With plenty of attacking options available, Neto will need to make the most of any opportunity that comes his way.
Estevao - Brazil vs Australia - 07:00 am (Friday)
In what seems like an unusual choice for a friendly, Brazil have travelled to the other side of the world to face Australia in a double-header. With João Pedro unavailable, Chelsea will be keen to see Estevão get some valuable minutes and, ideally, make a strong case for a place in the Blues’ squad.
The Brazilian wonderkid will be hoping to set Australia alight with his performances when the two sides meet in the early hours of Friday morning.
