Chelsea have been handed some good, and bad, injury news ahead of Saturday's meeting with Manchester United.
Xabi Alonso has confirmed that one defender will remain unavailable while another is ready to return.
The Blues have been dealing with several fitness problems in recent weeks, and Wednesday night's Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool only added to their concerns.
Maxence Lacroix picked up a hamstring injury at Anfield, leaving Alonso with another defensive headache to solve.
However, there is at least some positive news for the Chelsea manager, with Pep Chavarria back in contention after missing the previous three matches.
Alonso confirms Jorrel Hato ruled out but Pep Chavarria set to return
Speaking ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash with Manchester United, Alonso confirmed that Jorrel Hato will not be available for selection.
The Dutch defender's absence is another setback for the Blues, particularly with Lacroix also expected to miss several weeks after picking up his injury against Liverpool.
There was better news regarding Chavarria, though, with the left-sided defender available again after missing Chelsea's last three fixtures.
His return gives Alonso another option at the back, and he could be important with the manager needing to make changes in defence.
Chavarria's availability is certainly welcome, although it remains to be seen whether he is ready to start or will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Alonso also confirmed that Moises Caicedo is available despite being substituted during the second half at Anfield.
When asked about the Ecuadorian's fitness, the Chelsea manager, via Chelsea's official website, said: "No issue. He is ok for tomorrow."
More Chelsea injury updates ahead of Manchester United
There were further updates on two other players who have been missing for the Blues.
Aaron Anselmino is still unavailable, with Alonso explaining that the defender has suffered a few different injuries and will need several more weeks before he is fully fit.
The Chelsea manager is clearly keen to avoid rushing the Argentine back, particularly given his recent fitness problems.
There was more encouraging news regarding Emi Martinez, however. The goalkeeper has been sidelined since Chelsea's victory over Everton, when he suffered a fractured jaw following a collision with Jarrad Branthwaite.
Alonso confirmed that there is a chance Martinez could return before the November international break, although the club will need to assess his progress next week before making a decision.
The priority is Saturday's meeting with Manchester United, and Chelsea will be hoping to get back to winning ways after their disappointing cup exit.
Having Chavarria and Caicedo available is a boost, but losing Hato and Lacroix leaves Alonso with some important defensive decisions to make.
