Guus Hiddink has confirmed that he will be able to call upon both Gary Cahill and John Terry for Chelsea FC’s Premier League clash with Tottenham.

As Chelsea FC prepare for what could potentially be a title-deciding Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, they have been given a defensive boost. Interim boss Guus Hiddink has confirmed that the duo of Gary Cahill and John Terry should be available for the fixture.

Speaking to the press in his customary pre-match press conference on Friday, Hiddink stated that he will in all likelihood be able to select both centre backs should he want to.

"I think they will be involved because they both participated in the training sessions. They’re ok to come into the first 18. It is good to have them back because John has been out for a long period, Gary the same. John may not be able to do the full 90, but we will see. – via Evening Standard"

The club captain has not played since March 19th, when the Blues drew with West Ham United 2-2. Terry has been plagued by some minor issues that have kept him out since and, as Hiddink predicted last week, he is set to make his return on Monday night.

However, it will be interesting to see whether he is selected in the starting eleven. Given that he has been sidelined for a considerable amount of time and that he is unlikely to see out the full 90 minutes, Hiddink may limit him to a second half cameo.

Cahill, meanwhile, made his return from injury two weeks ago but he was once again sidelined for the Bournemouth game due to illness. He has made a full recovery and is expected to start the fixture on Monday.

John Obi Mikel filled in at the heart of defence last weekend, as Hiddink opted to go with the Nigerian out of position instead of Matt Miazga. He was not great and thus the boss will be relieved to be able to call on a veteran for the big game.

Chelsea fans want nothing more than to dent Tottenham’s title hopes and this injury news has only increased the club’s chances of doing so.

Then again, if Leicester beat Manchester United it doesn’t matter.
