Granted this, as of this posting, isn’t officially official (the transfer media is truly silly) but all signs point to Super Frank Lampard leaving the Bridge.

It is impossible to overstate Lampard’s impact on Chelsea.  The numbers should be enough: 3 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and both the Champions League and Europa League.  Oh yeah, and the club record 211 goals.  He is the best EPL midfielder of the generation no matter how loud the shouts from Anfield are.

But, as well all know, the numbers don’t tell the full Lampard story.  He loves this club and has been the model player and leader during his tenure. I think it is safe to say he will have a statue in front of Stamford Bridge in the near future.

Replaced by:  Willian.  Let’s be clear, no one will ever fully replace Lampard, but Willian is off to a decent start.
