Chelsea FC keeper Thibaut Courtois is urging his teammates to stay positive despite their undefeated run coming to an end against Newcastle United. Courtois described it as a “hard match” but that “the ball wouldn’t fall right” for the Blues. Chelsea had their fair share of shots on goal and played well against Newcastle but just like Courtois said, they did not have luck on their side in the match.

Courtois also saw his three match clean sheet streak broken with the loss but there was not much he could do on either goal scored by Papiss Cisse. The Belgian shot-stopper has been in fine form for Chelsea this season and he has earned every one of the plaudits he has received. Comments like the one below also show that he is growing as a leader within the squad despite being one of the youngest players in the team.
Thibaut Courtois on the loss to Newcastle United and overcoming it:
"“Obviously we are disappointed with the result. We tried our best to win this game, and it was a hard game. We were a little bit unlucky. At 2-0, it’s harder. We tried to fight back, we scored to make it 2-1, but then the ball wouldn’t fall right for us and we couldn’t draw this game and maybe then win it, so obviously we are disappointed.”“But we will work hard again tomorrow in training to win the following games. Everybody worked hard and gave it all on the pitch to win this game, but we know here it is difficult and we went down against them. It was a hard game, but we have to stay positive. We are still leaders, but we know these games to be champions you have to win, so from the next game on, we will try our best to win all the games if possible.”“That’s the most important, that we are still leaders and from the next game on, we will fight to keep that bonus up and make the gap bigger. There are only difficult games in the Premier League and we know that. The next game is in the Champions League at home and then against Hull, we have to win in front of our fans.”Source: London 24"
With an unimportant fixture against Sporting Lispon coming up, followed by what should be an easy match agaisnt Hull City, the Blues have some time to right the ship before the holiday period. They then play Stoke City, West Ham, and Southampton in the Premier League which are not as straightforward as they looked at the start of the season but maximum points is to be expected. Thibaut Courtois and Chelsea FC may not be perfect any longer but they do not need to be to become champions.
